Did you know there was a dinosaur bigger, stronger – and probably meaner – than the legendary Tyrannosaurus Rex?! Neither did most archaelogists, until they recently discovered Giganotosaurus in South America. You can now see this massive dinosaur – alongside other dinos – at the Cincinnati Museum Center’s Ultimate Dinosaurs Exhibit.
So how big is big?! Well, the Giganotosaurus is believed to have been the largest land predator to ever have lived! Okay – that’s really big. While similar to the famous T. Rex – the Giganotosaurus was about 42 feet longer than the T. Rex. Plus, while T. Rex had teeth designed for crushing, the Giganotosaurus had teeth like razor blades. The best part of the exhibit is you can see first-hand the comparison between the two massive dinosaurs. The skeletons of both are in the same room along with teeth fossils to compare.
This dinosaur exhibit is more than a two-dino show! Dozens of dinosaur skeletons and bones are on display. One of the coolest features of the exhibit is the digital capabilities that bring a whole next experience to seeing dinosaur bones and skeletons. iPads stationed throughout the exhibit allow visitors to see dinosaurs with skin and moving around. Hold the iPad over the skeleton skull and you’ll see the dinosaur’s full face staring right back at you!!
Plus special mats on the floor can turn into 3D holograms of the dinosaurs on the iPad. You can even have a friend stand next to the hologram and take their picture!
This exhibit is an absolute must-see for anyone who loves dinosaurs, which basically means – everyone!
